Design, construction, and measurement of electromagnetic steering magnet for 25-MeV electron accelerator system

Abstract Mid-infrared and terahertz free-electron laser (MIR/THz FEL) facility is under the construction at PBP-CMU Electron Linac Laboratory (PCELL) in Chiang Mai University. For producing MIR-FEL, electron beams with an energy of 25 MeV accelerated by a radio-frequency linear accelerator (RF linac) are required. Transporting 25-MeV beam from linac to MIR-FEL station requires small dipole magnets for steering along beamline. This work focuses on design, construction, measurement electromagnetic magnet controlling trajectory. A computer software, CST Studio Suite 2022 used 3D magnetic field simulation magnet. The physical length diameter copper coil decided based calculation results. After hall probe measuring system controlled program measure comparison From simulated calculated results, 40 mm 1.06 was chosen. At applied current 1.8 A, this can bend bending angle 13.7 mrad. measured consistent advantage that it be assembled square frame both horizontal vertical direction. It also THz-FEL beamline, which 10-16 MeV.
